TEACHING AND LEARNING
Rationale
Accompanying the lessons and lectures I have attended throughout my time in the Elementary Education program, I have created lesson plans and dabbled in teaching students. This experience is important to me because not only does it give me the opportunity to learn hands on, but it also gives me the tools that I will need to teach in my own classroom. Linked below are various lesson plans and examples that I created for students. These assignments gave me an idea of what it could be like to teach independently, maybe they will make an appearance in my own classroom one day.

DECODABLE TEXT LESSON
For my CTRD class we had the opportunity to tutor a first grader who struggled with reading. Our lesson consisted of phonetic instruction, decodable texts, invented spelling, and letterbox lessons. Linked below is an example of how I would assist my student in reading a decodable text.
LIFE CYCLEÂ UNIT PLAN
For this assignment, we worked in groups of four to create a unit plan using a third grade science and language art standard. We developed a unit about life cycles, comparing human life stages to insects and plants. This unit plan includes traditional and nontraditional assessments, as well as goals for our students to meet.
